In 2007 I found PES 08 sick!! I used to shoot from the half way line and it would be in the back of the net I was like the Pele of PES 08 (that’s what I thought anyway). I even used to get classic players but first you have to unlock them by win tournaments. There was one that I will never forget he’s name is Johan Cruyff I used to shoot from distance with this guy and the ball always used to be in the net. In PES 08 when you score a great goal there’s a replay were you just keep on showing the goal to your mates just to make them jealous.
The faces in PES 08 looked pretty cool the player’s body shapes were also quite cool as well. The thing that made PES 08 a great game for me was that you could use patches to totally customize the game to your needs, to the point where you could add new faces and change up football team kits as well. You could even change up the front menu page and make it look far better than the default.
The bad thing about PES 08
The thing that I found annoying about PES 08 was that the movement was stiff and sometimes the defenders would do stupid things (sliding into the back of players without permission). It was also too easy it wasn’t challenging enough.
Overall PES 08 was the game that made me understand why there was so much talk about The Pro Evolution genre. In the next Pro evolution (PES 09) I expected the player movement to change and be more realistic, the player’s faces to look much better than PES 08 and also for Konami to have more football team kits in the English league. I also hoped the AI of players would be much better than PES 08. Below I've put together a few pictures of what I think PES 08 had to offer.
In the next post I will be talking about my experiences with PES 09 and whether it lived up to expectations.
